AARHUS KOMMUNE (Denmark)

Aarhus Municipality is Denmark's second-largest municipality, responsible for a range of tasks and areas of responsibility that are crucial for the citizens of the municipality. Most of the municipality's tasks relate to key welfare areas such as childcare, public schools, nursing homes, and assistance for the elderly in their own homes, as well as social matters. Aarhus Municipality has approximately 375,000 inhabitants. The municipality continues to experience population growth, as the city is a student and university town, and not least due to a strong business sector. The municipality employs about
30,000 people, mainly working within the fields of children and youth services and elderly care. There are increasing challenges in the municipality's workforce of caregivers in the elderly sector when it comes to recruiting qualified labour for the area. A challenge that the municipality shares with the vast majority of other municipalities. There is thus a need to think in new solutions and initiatives, which is one of the reasons for participating in the Cultural Synergy project.
