About the project

Advancing care through Filipino-Nordic cooperation

The challenge

‘Tackling labour and skills shortages is one of the key challenges of our time, with implications for the EU’s competitiveness, sustainable and inclusive growth, capacity for innovation and social cohesion’, as stated by the European Commission.

The Cultural Synergy project will address the need for increased knowledge among educators and labour market stakeholders about the prerequisites for a successful transition of migrants to a new culture, a new language, a different care culture and a different labour market.

General objective

The main objective of the project is to develop a flexible educational material, targeting migrants from third countries as workers in the European care sector.

Objective 1

Building on the project's needs analysis, to develop a set of recommendations for successful cultural and labor market transition based on surveys with nationally established South-Asian migrants and Filipino stakeholders in the Philippines.

Objective 2

To design an Educational Toolkit to address the opportunities, challenges and barriers that will arise in the transition from one cultural, linguistic and labour market context to another.

Objective 3

To develop an implementation guide for educational institutions and labour market stakeholders on how they can best implement the Educational Toolkit as a full package or in the form of sub-elements, adapted to stakeholder/student needs and the local context.
